Music Therapy Internship

The Music Therapy Program at Trident Health System seeks to meet the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of patients and families through a comprehensive program of music therapy interventions. Music therapy is an established healthcare profession and complementary treatment modality.  Music therapists utilize music and the patient/therapist relationship to promote healing and enhance quality of life.  When applied in conjunction with other medical treatments, it can help patients cope mentally and physically with their illness.  These services are provided by a board-certified music therapist, as well as supervised music therapy interns and practicum students.

Our Music Therapy Internship Program is committed to providing quality education, training and experience for future music therapy professionals.  Recognized by the American Music Therapy Association with inclusion in its National Internship Registry, our internship program affords students the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art medical facility gaining advanced skills in music therapy techniques.  Our commitment to the training program includes a stipend for up to four interns per year, a full-time master’s level therapist with clinical training certification, and full backing of the hospital administration.
