From 2002 - 2008, the Society for the Arts in Healthcare's Blair L. Sadler International Healing Arts Awards recognized individuals or teams of individuals – including both professionals and students – for their exemplary literary, visual, performing, multidisciplinary or media arts projects having a measurable impact on the quality of the healthcare experience for patients, families or caregivers. In so doing, this awards program promoted the dissemination of research-based ”best practice” programs throughout the world.

Background

Competition sponsor Blair L. Sadler served as President and CEO of Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego from 1980 to 2006. Under his direction, Rady Children's Hospital received numerous awards for commitment to the arts and positive impact on healing. Annette Ridenour, President of Aesthetics, Inc., an internationally recognized design firm promoting the arts in healthcare, was a co-founder of the Blair Sadler Awards. Find out more about the projects that were awarded in 2008, 2007, 2006 and 2005.
